Brazilian happy hour at Somerset House keeps bringing people together

The Brazilian happy hour at Somerset House continues bringing people together in the courtyard at Somerset House. This Tuesday, while many people visited the Brazilian exhibitions, a nice sound coming from the instruments played by the members of the group Kita Stever and Sambasoul Transatlântico could be heard during the soundcheck.
This Wednesday the group Maracatudo Mafuá will have a presentation as well as Beiju and Adma New Port.

Athletes from the Olympic Experience project get surprised during visit at Casa Brasil

Young brazilian athletes from the Olympic Experience project, sponsored by the Brazilian Olympic Committee, were surprised to see themselves on the exhibition Passion and Transformation, at Casa Brasil, in Somerset House. Hugo Calderano (table tennis), Vitor Gonçalves (beach volleyball), Flávia Gomes (judo), Martine Grael (sailing) and Thiago Monteiro (tennis), from left to right, were thrilled when they got to the "New Generation" section. 
After going through the exhibitions at Casa Brasil, the athletes took a walk around Somerset House's courtyard.
The Olympic Experience project has the objective of getting young promises from the Brazilian Sport to live the spirit of the Olympic Games before competing for real in the biggest sport event of the world, so they can face the challenge of representing Brazil in the Olympic Games in a natural way.

NOC representatives visit exhibitions and Rio 2016™ boutique

After the first meeting where the materials on sports facilities throughout Brazil were distributed to the National Olympic Committees (NOC's), representatives present at the event visited the exhibions at Casa Brasil: From the Margin to the Edge, Brazil the time is now and Passion and Tranformation. 
The NOC representatives took the chance to pose with the logos of the Rio 2016™ Olympic and Paralympic Games. After that, they went to the Rio 2016™ boutique at Casa Brasil.

NOCs receive materials on sports facilities throughout Brazil during breakfast with Rio 2016™ representatives

During this monday's breakfast with representatives of the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee, kits with materials on sports facilities throughout Brazil were distributed to the delegations of the National Olympic Committees (NOC's). There will be a second breakfast with other NOC representatives next week, and the materials for Pre-Games Training will continue to be distributed.

Expert in Integration of the Olympic Village honors his son using the new Rio 2016™ font

The expert in Integration of the Olympic Village from the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee, Bruno Souza, visited Casa Brasil and honored his son using the new font. In Rio 2016 he works on the staff of the Olympic Village and NOC/NPC Services Director, Mario Cilenti.
Bruno, who was named best handball player in the world in 2003, scored the title of the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo in 2003. In the Athens Olympics was team's top scorer with 28 goals.

Brazilian happy hour at Somerset House continues this Monday

The cultural attractions set by the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee will continue this Monday at the courtyard in Somerset House, in the center of London. The brazilian happy hour will begin at 6:30 p.m everyday, until the 11th of August, and the attractions will end at 10 p.m. This Monday there will be more DJ's playing different brazilian rythms and band performances that will cheer up the public: Sargento Pimenta, Aline Stoffel & band and Aleh Ferreira.
This Sunday hundreds of people came to Somerset House to check the brazilian attractions that took place at the courtyard.

Brazilian gold medallist Sarah Menezes goes for a walk at the courtyard at Somerset House



After winning Brazil's first goldmedal at the London 2012 Olympic Games, Sarah Menezes, the judo athlete, walked between the fountains at Somerset House, where Casa Brasil is located. The brazilian athlete from the state of Piauí gave an interview and was clicked by many photographers while taking a walk through the courtyard. 
  Sarah Menezes is only 22 years old and is pointed as a revelation in brazilian judo. At the Rio 2016™ Olympic Games, she will be at her peak to try her second gold medal.

Cutural Programming at Casa Brasil rises the public on the courtyard at Somerset House


The courtyard at Somerset House was very high spirited on the first day of cultural programming at Casa Brasil. There were DJ presentations and  brazilian artists in the afternoon that thrilled the public. 
  The cultural attractions at Casa Brasil began with exhibitions of brazilian art and film exhibitions. The cultural attractions will continue every day until the 11th of August, one day before the London 2012 Games' Closing Ceremony.

Nissan representatives visit Casa Brasil and pose with the Rio 2016™ new font


Nissan representatives are in London to follow the Olympic Games and actions performed by the Rio 2016™ team. During their visit at Casa Brasil they posed for a picture where they held cards with letters that formed the company's name, written with the new Rio 2016™ font.
  The Rio 2016™ new font was launched last Monday (23) and was inspired by the letters and numbers from the Rio 2016™ logo and also in the essence of the Rio 2016™ Games: Passion and Transformation.

Marina Silva and the Olympic flag

The former Minister of State for the Environment of Brazil, Marina Silva (right, top), carried the Olympic flag  at the Opening Ceremony of London 2012. She was honored by the International Olympic Committe for her work for peace. What a great honor to Brazil!

Casa Brasil received yesterday the bronze Sailing medallist Isabel Swan. Winner of the first women's Olympic medal in Sailing, together with Fernanda Oliveura, the athlete visited the exhibitions and draw everyone's attention at Casa Brasil.

Visitors that go to Casa Brasil, at Somerset House, in the heart of London, until September 8th, will be able to take a picture with the logo of the first Olympic Games in Latin America, Rio 2016™. After taking the photograph the visitor can send it by email.

Children play at the courtyard before the official opening of Casa Brasil and give Somerset a brazilian atmosphere

Summer showed up in London this Thursday and the courtyard at Somerset House, where Casa Brasil is located, got a Brazilian atmosphere. A few hours before the official opening of Casa Brasil, which was attended by the country’s president, Dilma Rousseff, many children were playing around the fountains that are usually an attraction for visitors during the high season.

It’s hot in London and at some points in the city the temperature exceeded 30 degrees Celsius this Thursday, one day before London’s Opening Ceremony. Photo: Rio 2016™

IOC president, Jacques Rogge, will attend Casa Brasil's special opening

Casa Brasil will be opened for very special guests this Thursday. The president of the International Olympic Committee, Jacques Rogge, will be at the event that will also be attended by Brazilian authorities. The president os the Rio 2016™ Organising Committee,  Carlos Arthur Nuzman, is one of them.

Exhibition shows Rio's pathway towards the Rio 2016™ Games

Visitors that come by Casa Brasil, at Somerset House, in London, can't miss the exhibition "Passion and Transformation", which shows the whole process that made Rio the host city of the Rio 2016™ Games.
